Kids on Camera
Ages 10-14
Mondays, 3:45- 5:15 pm

Learn how to act on camera - solo and with a scene partner. You'll build skills in listening and reacting while learning about slating, on-camera interviews, vocal technique, making choices and adjustments, auditioning, cold reading and overcoming stage fright. Dan Weisman has over 25 years of experience as an acting coach in Los Angeles and Maui.

 

 Glee Club

Junior level (ages 8-11)

Have you ever imagined yourself singing and dancing with New Directions? Join us for MAPA's version of Glee Club. You'll learn the foundations of singing, including pitch, breath support, diction and phrasing. You'll gain confidence in your singing in a fun and supportive environment. And you'll learn how to move to the songs with Ms. Kathleen's amazing choreography. No experience necessary for Junior Glee Club and Level I. Level II is for experienced singers and dancers with more than 1 year of weekly classes in singing and/or dancing.

 

Acting Adventures
Ages 5-7

Join us for a different adventure each week as we journey through the universe using the power of our imaginations. We'll explore role-play, creative movement, games, props and much more as we act out fantastic stories set in faraway lands. This is a great class for new young actors.

 

Intermediate/Advanced Acting

Using theatre exercises, monologues, scene study and improvisation, you'll learn how to use the power of your body, voice and imagination to develop believable characters.  

 

Advanced Play Production
Ages 12+

This class is for young actors who are serious about their craft. Enrollment is by audition only for students who have taken at least two semesters of acting classes or participated in at least one summer musical theatre camp. Under the guidance of one of the most experienced and well respected directors on the island, you'll rehearse and perform a play (title TBA) at Steppingstone Playhouse March 16, 17, 23, 24, 25. Pint Sized Players
Ages 7-10

Using theatre games and story exploration in a supportive, no-pressure environment, you'll learn the skills actors use to portray characters on stage. We'll create a unique ensemble piece based on one of our favorite stories to share with family and friends on the last day.

 

Comedy Improv Troupe

Access your inner comic talent. Learn the improvisation techniques used by actors like Jim Carrey and Will Farrell to create funny characters and scenes on the spot. You'll gain confidence, learn how to trust your instincts and develop strong collaboration skills in this fast-paced, hilarious class.
