Building the Dream

Artist rendering of blue two-story building

The Naylor

MAPA’s decades-long dream of a permanent home of our own is finally coming true! The Main Street Arts Project in the heart of historic Wailuku is a place where people from all walks of life, from keiki to kūpuna, will gather to participate in locally-produced performing arts programs.

The Main Street Arts Project includes The Naylor, a black box theatre currently under construction in the former National Dollar Store. In addition to the performance space, the building houses a rehearsal studio, green room, dressing room, new restrooms, and a rooftop photovoltaic system. With a reconfigurable seating system and state-of-the-art audiovisual and lighting systems, the venue is suitable for theatre, music, dance, comedy, film, and a wide range of events. Construction began in December 2023 and will be complete in September 2025.

Check out photos of the construction in progress on our Facilities page!

Our capital campaign goal for this project is $15 million. We have secured 97% of our funding - please help us get to the finish line! We’re grateful for contributions of any size. Donors contributing $1,000 or more to MAPA’s capital campaign will be acknowledged on the Donor Recognition wall in the lobby.
